Arnaud’s Special

2 oz
Scotch, is malt whisky or grain whisky made in Scotland. Originally made from malted barley, with the addition of wheat and rye. It must be aged for at least 3 years in oak barrels.
1 oz
A sweet, aromatised wine-based quinquina. It is a blend of fortified wine, herbs, spices and quinine; 15% ABV.
3 dash
A bitters made from Seville oranges, cardamom, caraway seed, coriander and burnt sugar.
1 twist
An orange colored citrus fruit. Many types of orange make an appearance in cocktails. The peel and juice are equally valuable to diverse cocktails.

Shake with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist. #shake #straight

From Ted Saucier’s 1951 book Bottoms Up. The drink became the signature of the Arnaud’s Restaurant in New Orleans 1940-50s.
