Gin and Tonic

2 oz
A spirit whose flavor profile revolves around juniper berries. Originally from the Middles Ages, modern gin is a derivative of the Dutch drink jenever (genever). You can make a home-made gin by simply infusing vodka. There are a large number of recipes online.
2 oz
A carbonated soft drink in which quinine is dissolved, giving an intensly bitter flavor. Originally, tonic was used to fight malaria as the quinine was shown to be effective. However, modern tonic has much less quinine and is really only used for its bitter flavor; please take your malaria pills (and vaccinate your kids).

In a glass filled with ice cubes, add gin and tonic. The proportions for this drink vary greatly, from 1:1 to 1:3 (gin to tonic). #build #ontherocks

The cocktail was introduced by the army of the British East India Company in India. In India and other tropical regions, malaria was a persistent problem. In the 1700s it was discovered by Scottish doctor George Cleghorn that quinine could be used to prevent and treat the disease. - Wikipedia
