A hybrid citrus fruit originating in Barbados as an accidental cross between two introduced species, sweet orange and pomelo. Like other citrus fruits the grapefruit is popular among cocktails for its peel and juice.
Combine all ingredients, except the soda and grapefruit juice, in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled. Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice cubes and top with the grapefruit juice and soda. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
