A hybrid citrus fruit originating in Barbados as an accidental cross between two introduced species, sweet orange and pomelo. Like other citrus fruits the grapefruit is popular among cocktails for its peel and juice.

Fill a martini glass with ice to chill. Add ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Discard the ice from the glass and strain the gin mixture into it. Garnish with a grapefruit peel and serve immediately. #shake #straight

To make this a dirty Bitter Martini, squeeze a bit of grapefruit juice in as well.
